Nintendo releasing US 60Hz version of F-Zero on Wii U Virtual Console

Following backlash at 50Hz Balloon Fight.

Nintendo has chosen the US 60Hz version of its classic racer F-Zero for release on the Wii U eShop this week.

From F-Zero to F-hero.

It follows fan backlash after the inferior 50Hz version of NES game Balloon Fight was made available in Europe.

PAL 50Hz versions of classic games run slower due to old European TVs having a slower refresh rate, and have compressed graphics and borders.

Nintendo released Virtual Console titles on Wii in 50Hz too, although subsequently shifted to 60Hz for the 3DS Virtual Console.

F-Zero is the second classic title to be released on Wii U eShop at the limited-time price of just 30p for 30 days.

Also available on the eShop this week is a demo of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, plus reductions for Trine 2 and Mighty Switch Force! Hyper Drive Edition.

The 3DS eShop gets a Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate demo, and beautiful puzzler NightSky.
