HL1: Deathmatch Sourced

Valve goes straight to the Source.

Valve has announced that Half-Life 1: Deathmatch is being given a makeover with the Source Engine for better physics and lighting effects - but don't expect vastly improved graphics.

Unlike the Source Engine versions of Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat, the new HL1: Deathmatch isn't getting an art overhaul. However, we are promised new HDR effects including "blooming", according to US website 1up.

So far, the list of maps being upgraded is as followed: Boot Camp, Bounce, Crossfire, Datacore, Frenzy, Lambda Bunker, Rapidcore, Snarkpit, Stalkyard, Subtransit and Undertow.

There's no news yet on when the Source Engine revamp will be completed, but we'll keep you posted.
