Halo, Battlefield vets form Tyrant Studios

Game designers, not animal doctors.

Veteran designers responsible for work on Halo and Battlefield games have formed a new company called Tyrant Studios and are already talking to publishers about a first original project, GamesIndustry.biz reports.

Hardy LeBel heads the outfit, and has a history that boasts work on Halo and its sequel, as well as positions for Microsoft Game Studios on Jade Empire and Dungeon Siege 2.

The top designer at the company is Anders Hejdenberg who has worked on Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, Battlefield 2142 and Futurama.

"We're excited to announce the formation of Tyrant and share our vision for the future of game development," said LeBel.

"Our first project is the result of months of preproduction and planning - and with our collected experience, we believe we'll change the way games are made."

The Tyrant team consists of seven members who between them have also worked on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Midnight Club 2 and Viva Piñata: Party Animals.

"It has been fantastic to see the results of bringing together such a passionate, creative, and highly motivated team of this calibre," added Hejdenberg.

"We've managed to create a concept that we believe will become a trendsetter - not only in games, but in mainstream media culture as well."

On its website Tyrant has a teaser page for a project call ESP. Something to do with extra-sensory perception, then? We shall see.

Fact will leave fiction and run away with GamesIndustry.biz roughly nine times out of 10.
