Mega Charizard X Pokemon revealed

Trade between games will include Mega Stones, Nintendo confirms.

The Pokémon Company has revealed another of the dual Mega Evolutions you'll be able to trigger in the upcoming Pokémon X and Y games. This time it's old fan favourite Charizard getting his mega on, and the results are impressive.

Mega Evolutions are temporary powerful boosts that can be triggered in battle by equipping a fully evolved Pokémon with the relevant Mega Stone. Equip Charizard with Charizardite Y, for example, and the Pokémon will evolve into Mega Charizard Y, with an increase to its special attack and bonus abilities Drought and Blast Burn.

Equip Charizard with Charizardite X, however, and it'll transform into Mega Charizard X. Its body turns black, its flames turn blue and it changes from a flying/fire type Pokémon to flying/dragon type, gaining the melee boosting power Tough Claws in the process.

Of course, which stones you get will depend on which version of the game you're playing, but don't worry - you won't be locked into one Mega Evolution by the game you choose. We reached out to the Pokémon PR company for clarification on whether Mega Stones - and therefore different Mega Evolutions - will be transferable between the two versions of the game and they replied in the affirmative. "These stones are like other in-game items so they can be traded by attaching to a Pokémon, and trading that Pokémon with another," they confirmed. "This is the same mechanism as with earlier Pokémon games for trading items."
