LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias heading to iOS

Acclaimed platformer sequel showcased in new trailer.

The second part of Frontier Development's LostWinds platforming series is on its way to iOS, the UK developer has announced.

Titled LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias, it originally launched on WiiWare back in 2009 to general critical acclaim.

Following its predecessors jump to iOS last year, it too is now going mobile, though no release date or price has yet been confirmed.

It follows a similar template to the original game, while adding in new weather-based gameplay elements.

The studio has released a brief trailer showcasing some of the visual effects it's managed to shoehorn in to the mobile version, including dynamic lighting and refractive ice effects. T'is pretty indeed.

Providing you can stomach the touch screen controls, this one might well be worth your time - it picked up a glowing 9/10 from Eurogamer on its original WiiWare launch.

"A few hours longer than the first game, if that's the kind of detail you're interested in, Frontier's sequel is also a lot more complex and dynamic, and yet it's managed to retain the same unforced charm," read our LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias review.

"With its cherry blossom, spindly shrines and gentle characters, the original LostWinds always seemed worryingly delicate in its prettiness: this instalment proves that the series is robust enough to withstand a real adventure."
