LostWinds iPhone, iPad announced

Braben brings Wii game to mobiles.

Kinectimals developer Frontier Developments will launch mobile versions of enchanting platform adventure Wii game LostWinds this year.

Frontier boss David Braben told Eurogamer at the Develop conference today that LostWinds will launch on iPad, iPhone and Android mobiles.

It is the original games "to start with" ported across to iOS and Android, Braben said.

Eurogamer was the first press to see the game running on iPad outside. Players are able to move the series star Toku with a virtual joypad situated on the lower left corner of the screen, and create wind with the screen's touch functionality.

"It works very well with the Wii controller motions, but it also works on a touch interface in a very similar fashion," Braben told Eurogamer.

LostWinds launched on the WiiWare download platform in 2008 to critical acclaim. A sequel, LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias was released a year later.

More details are expected soon.
