Kojima Productions pulls GDC appearance

UPDATE: Now EA won't attend, too.

UPDATE 25/2/20: Another day, another company to pull out of this year's Game Developers Conference. This time, it's EA.

A number of execs, including Respawn boss Vince Zampella, were due to take part in a panel on the company's studio organisation titled "Lessons Learned".

GDC 2020 is still due to take place in just over three weeks, in its usual home at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

ORIGINAL STORY 24/2/20: Kojima Productions is the latest company to pull out of this year's Game Developers Conference, set to run from 16th to 20th March in San Francisco.

"Kojima Productions has made the difficult decision to cancel our participation at the 2020 Game Developers Conference due to increasing concerns related to coronavirus," the studio said in a statement posted to Twitter today.

"Although much-anticipated, unfortunately this cancellation also includes Hideo Kojima's session on the 19th, and Eric Johnson's session on the 16th."

Though not stated here, we had expected to hear from Kojima himself on the upcoming PC version of Death Stranding - something Kojima teased recently on Twitter.

Last week, PlayStation said it would no longer attend the show (or the upcoming PAX East) due to "increasing concerns" surrounding coronavirus.

Oculus owner Facebook has also now pulled out, siting "concern for the health and safety of our employees, our dev partners, and the GDC community as a whole".
