Insomniac not making games for NGP

"Totally focused" on PS3, Xbox 360.

Ratchet & Clank and Resistance developer Insomniac Games won't bother making games for the Next Generation Portable - its focus will remain on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Remember that it's Nihilistic Software making the announced Resistance NGP game, and that Sony owns the Resistance IP.

Insomniac is "totally focused on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360", said community man James Stevenson, according to Kotaku.

Insomniac will "support Sony", but NGP games are "probably not something we would develop in-house".

Resistance has cropped up on PSP before as Resistance Retribution, developed by Sony Bend. Retribution turned out to be one of the best games on PSP, scoring 8/10 on Eurogamer.

"Retribution isn't quite the saviour the PSP needs, but it's close enough to come highly recommended," reviewer Dan Whitehead wrote.

Insomniac Games inked a surprising multi-format publishing deal with EA last May. We've no idea what the new game will be, but EA is confident already that Insomniac will achieve average review scores of 90 per cent. Perhaps we'll get an update at E3 this summer.

Meanwhile, Insomniac beavers away on PS3 exclusive Resistance 3, which hopes to build on the impressive 9/10 Eurogamer awarded to Resistance 2.
