It seems the Resistance series may, finally, be over.
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is the UK's number one game for the second week running despite a 35 per cent reduction in sales.
Middling PlayStation Vita shooter Resistance: Burning Skies is now available to download from the European PlayStation Store.
The Resistance series made its mark by tearing up the history books and rewriting the script on 20th-century conflict. Now, for its Vita debut, the concept has been taken to weirdly literal lengths in a game that seems to go out of its way to pretend the 21st Century never really happened for the first-person shooter.
Which is an odd thing to say about the first full-fat, high-definition FPS ever to appear on a handheld gaming console - and certainly not what I hoped to be writing
The tantalising appeal of Vita for many gamers was never really anything to do with the touch panels, cameras, motion sensors, 3G connectivity or any of that bullet-point-bingo frippery (as compelling as some of those features are when smartly deployed). No, it was simply those two analogue sticks, either side of the screen, that promised core console gaming without compromise.
PS Vita FPS out next week.
Sony has taken the wraps off forthcoming Vita shooter Resistance: Burning Skies' new Survival multiplayer mode.
As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, it's the third pillar of the handheld FPS's multiplayer offering, alongside Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch.
Players will be divided into humans and Chimera, who'll start with six and two squad members respectively. When a human is killed they'll be transformed into a Chimera, slowly shifting the balance of play. The winner is the last human left standing.
PS Vita FPS out next month.
Sony's smacked a 30th May release date on Vita shooter Resistance: Burning Skies.
That translates to a Wednesday, which isn't a day games are typically released in the UK. More likely is a UK arrival that Friday, 1st June. Sony is checking this for us now.
Nihilistic Software is making Burning Skies for Vita, and Sony's proud of this being "the first ever" FPS on a portable device.
Insomniac has confirmed it will not make any more Resistance games.
Insomniac boss Ted Price told VG247, "We won't be making any more Resistances."
Price's comments confirm the suggestion that Insomniac - now working on Overstrike for EA and smaller games for its new Insomniac Click division - was done with the PlayStation exclusive shooter series following comments from creative director Marcus Smith in August last year.
Insomniac Games is not slated to create Resistance 4.

Resistance: Burning Skies has been announced for PlayStation Vita.
Ratchet & Clank and Resistance developer Insomniac Games won't bother making games for the Next Generation Portable - its focus will remain on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
The new Resistance title confirmed for Sony's just-announced NGP system is being developed by Nihilistic Software, not franchise creator Insomniac Games.
Games are the most important thing when it comes to the success of the PSP2 Next Generation Portable, Sony has said.
The first batch of games announced for Sony's brand new NGP (Next Generation Portable - a.k.a PSP2) handheld are as follows.
