Halo: Reach updated

Playlists, maps, gametypes tweaked.

Bungie's updated science fiction shooter Halo: Reach.

Changes have been made to the core gametypes and playlists and "a variety of issues" have been addressed.

"Please note that this is just the first of many updates," wrote community head honcho Brian "Sketch" Jarrard on Bungie.net.

"Our team continues to work on improving the Reach online experience and we're always listening to your feedback and reviewing the voting and game data we get from our servers. Reach will just keep getting better!"

Bungie confirmed the previously discussed campaign matchmaking feature – withheld to prevent spoilers – will be added to the game via a small update on either the 12th or 19th October.

The independent developer will also move the Infection gametype into its own Living Dead playlist later this month – a change that is sure to please those who are tired of the unwavering popularity of Infection.

And, as promised, today's update tweaks the betrayal system. "Hopefully players will feel it's a bit more 'fair' now and it should behave closer to what you're used to in Halo 3."

Halo: Reach generated $200 million in its first 24 hours on sale, and is the biggest Microsoft published game ever. It's also pretty good.
