GH: Greatest Hits renamed Smash Hits?

Activision won't tell us.

Activision has declined to comment on "rumour and speculation" that Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits will be renamed Guitar Hero: Smash Hits.

A big picture of the box art on Kotaku suggests this will be the case.

Greatest/Smash Hits - for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and PS2 - compiles all the best tracks from the Guitar Hero series: that means songs from I, II, Rocks the 80s and III.

There are other improvements packed in: the Music Studio, GHTunes and Rock Star Creator from Guitar Hero World Tour, plus the Expert+ difficulty from the upcoming Metallica instalment, and of course support for World Tour's drums and microphone.

There will be no new peripherals, however, and we only have a partial track list to show you.

Greatest/Smash Hits will be out some time this summer. Before then, we'll be offered Guitar Hero: Metallica, which Activision told us this morning would be out in "late May". An exact date will be nailed down soon.
