Faliszek details L4D2 Avatar Awards

T-shirts, health kits, "cool stuff".

Valve's Chet Faliszek has told Eurogamer that Left 4 Dead 2 will reward Xbox 360 players with Avatar clothing for accomplishing certain things.

"Yeah, so, in Left 4 Dead 2 on the 360 you can actually win - it's called Awards. It's this weird thing that we thought people had done already, and we started working on it and then, once we started talking about it, realised that no one knew what we were talking about," explained Faliszek.

"They're like Achievements, where you do some activity and you win something for your Avatar. You can unlock a Depeche Mode t-shirt or Left 4 Dead 2 t-shirt or the health kits or other cool stuff. You can't have weapons, but all the other stuff is from the game."

Chet Faliszek was at the London leg of the Eurogamer Expo 2009, shambling around the Left 4 Dead 2 pods, meeting and greeting fans.

"For Left 4 Dead 2 we wanted to come to the Eurogamer Expo 2009 and show, for the first time, to the public, Scavenge Mode. So we hold that back for here," he said, with Infectious excitement.

Chet Faliszek: friendly.

"And it's just a great chance to watch people in the community to play it and interact with the game and get their feedback on it. It's been a ton of fun watching; there are some teams that get it and there are some that, er, just run around shooting zombies. It's a really great show and it's got a really clean feel in here."

Faliszek also hosted a Developer Session, revealing secret behind-the-scenes design decisions before opening himself for a lengthy Q&A bombardment. We reported live from the talk.
