Drakengard 3 will be a digital-only title on PS3 next year

New trailer shows off bizarre character art, wonderful music.

Drakengard 3 will be coming to PS3 next year as a digital-only affair, publisher Square Enix has announced.

Since Drakengard 3 is a prequel to the first two games in the series, Square said it should be accessible to newcomers who missed out on the first couple of Drakengard games - and Nier, which is tangentially related to the series somehow. This latest entry in the series will revolve around a girl with a flower for an eye named Zero. One of the six magical sisters who's brought peace to the land, Zero had to disrupt things when she attempted to killer her sisters with her dragon, Mikhail. Why, you ask? Well, that's the central mystery of the game, it seems.

Best of all, Nier composer Keichi Okabe will be on board for this prequel, which is a very good thing as Nier sports one of the best game soundtracks in recent memory.

Check out his sweet tunes below in the all new Drakengard 3 trailer.
