Def Leppard single to debut in GH3

Wrinkly rockers say it is "fantastic".

Mercury Records has said it plans to release the upcoming Def Leppard single "Nine Lives" as downloadable content for Guitar Hero III.

The track will go up on Xbox Live alongside older songs "Rock of Ages" and "Photograph" on 24th April, while the European PS3 Store will get them on 8th May.

No pricing has been mentioned, but previous bundles have sold for 500 Microsoft Points (GBP 4.25 / EUR 6.00). Activision has been contacted for comment.

"I know from personal experience how much more you get into the music by playing the game, which is why we were keen to explore this opportunity," said Joe Elliott, lead singer of Def Leppard.

"Guitar Hero is extremely popular with all kinds of music heads, which includes a lot of our fans, and we think releasing 'Nine Lives' this way first is just fantastic!"

Def Leppard formed in 1977 and two years later had matching curly perms.
