Call of Duty: Modern Warfare PS4 gets an open alpha this weekend

Guns. Fight!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on PlayStation 4 gets an open alpha this weekend for the new 2v2 mode Gunfight.

The open alpha runs from 23rd-25th August. Included are five close-quarters maps, including Docks and Speedball. You don't need PS Plus to play.

I've played Gunfight a fair bit and it's a lot of fun. Each team begins the round with a random weapon loadout, although developer Infinity Ward has curated loads of loadouts, from pistol and rocket launcher to scoped shotguns. The point is, you never know what you're going to get. But all players get the same loadout. It's tense, tight and a blast.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare comes out 25th October, and in the meantime, you can learn about the alpha start times and Modern Warfare beta dates to go hands-on before it arrives.
