Bungie opens up Destiny beta to everyone

No more codes required.

Destiny's beta is now available for anyone to play, developer Bungie has announced.

The studio said it would drop the need to redeem beta access codes at midnight last night.

In a new post on the Destiny blog, Bungie directed anyone with a PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 or Xbox One to simply download the beta from their console desktop.

"The Beta has been eye-opening so far," community manager David 'Deej' Dague wrote. "We've watched the world of Destiny come to life. Guardians from every platform have arrived at the Tower from their battles in the wild. We have watched your adventures with great interest, and listened to your feedback.

"Your missions have provided us with volumes of discoveries we can use to prepare for the launch of Destiny in September. Our work is not done. There is more we can learn. To make this happen, we need more Guardians to play. This is, above all else, a test."

The beta is set to conclude late Saturday night/early Sunday morning on all platforms.

Before then, Bungie is holding a stress test for its service at 2PM PDT (10pm BST). Log on then and you'll unlock an exclusive emblem for use in the game's full version.
