Bungie creating new engine for Acti game

Halo studio spills the beans on new tech.

Halo: Reach developer Bungie's begun work on a new game engine for its recently announced collaboration with Activision.

Bungie will build an engine from the ground up rather than licensing any third-party technology, studio communications manager Brian Jarrard told Develop.

"Just like we don't want to develop a game off someone else's IP, we want to push our own technology in the same way. That's going to be our position for the foreseeable future," he said.

Bungie announced a 10-year partnership with Activision back in April to develop games across all platforms. There's no news yet on what the duo have in store.
