Bladestorm demos this week

Both PS3 and 360 on Thursday

Koei has announced that demos for Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War will be available on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live this Thursday.

It will give you all a chance to try out the renewed take on the genre ahead of its 2nd November European release.

The story revolves around the historical struggle between England and France back in the 14th Century, bringing to life characters like Joan of Arc and Prince Edward aka the "Black Prince".

And despite sharing obvious similarities with previous Dynasty Warriors titles, Bladestorm represents a considerable step in a new direction for Koei - a strange hybrid of real-time strategy and role-playing game.

Perhaps the most striking difference is that you are a skilled warrior and commander here, rather than a superhero with army-squashing powers - making your choice of support troops and tactics all the more relevant.

The result of the change had a delightfully positive effect on us when we saw the game earlier this month, leaving us refreshed and intrigued. Pop over to our preview of Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War to find out more, or simply download the demo on Thursday to make your own mind up.
