Battlefield 1 multiplayer misses out two key countries

No Russian.

Battlefield 1's multiplayer modes leave out two key World War 1 countries: France and Russia.

British, German, Austro-Hungarian, Italian, Ottoman, and American factions are playable in Battlefield 1, according to the game's official Twitter account.

But some fans have questioned why two key players in the conflict have been sidelined - especially when America, which only joined the war later, is included.

World War 1 began with France, the British Empire, Serbia, Belgium and Japan against Germany, Austria-Hungary and the Ottoman Empire.

Italy only joined later, in 1915, while the US only turned up in 1917 for the war's final year.

Naturally, it remains to be seen how other countries might factor into Battlefield 1 DLC.
