As predicted, Microsoft announces the $375 million acquisition of Rare
Microsoft has finally told the huddled masses lurking in a Spanish theme park this evening about its acquisition of Twycross, UK-based Rare Ltd for $375 million. The deal will see Perfect Dark 2 and Kameo: Elements of Power appear exclusively on Xbox along with three other exclusives over the course of the next 12-24 months. The games will all target key genres - racing, shoot'em'ups, platformers and more.
Microsoft's confirmation of the deal follows Nintendo's recent statement to the effect that Rare have done nothing for their margins in quite a while. Both Rare and Microsoft will be itching to prove the Japanese gaming giant wrong.
