The team behind cult DS adventure 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors is working on a new title for both 3DS and Vita, Chunsoft has announced.

According to Andriasang, it's not a direct sequel to 999, but both director Kotaro Uchikoshi and character designer Kinu Nishimura are back on board.

More concrete details are expected in this week's issue of Japanese games rag Famitsu.

Part puzzler, part visual novel, the 2009 original never made it to European shores, though the US version was big on the import scene.

Eurogamer's Chris Schilling awarded it a solid 7/10. "If you're in the mood for a faintly silly potboiler with a handful of cracking twists, you'll find this a thoroughly enjoyable read," surmised his 999 review.
