Zero Time Dilemma dated for June on 3DS and Vita

With a Steam release to follow.

Zero Time Dilemma - the third entry in the Zero Escape series after 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors and Virtue's Last Reward - will launch on Vita and 3DS on 28th June in both Europe and North America.

A Steam release will follow.

As reported by GameInformer, the announcement was made at publisher Aksys Games' GDC panel, where it was noted that the European release will be digital only. North Americans, however, will receive a physical edition as well.

Set on Mars, this upcoming adventure tasks players with playing a deadly puzzle game in which characters must pick each other off in order to gain clues to help them escape. It's a series of escape-the-room puzzles then, only with a heaping dose of sci-fi mystery and moral decisions layered on top of it.

This upcoming entry is touted as the series' final installment and it's actually set between 999 and Virtue's Last Reward. Though it will contain characters from both titles, developer Spike Chunsoft is aiming to make this non-chronological finale also function as a solid entry point for newcomers.

Zero Time Dilemma will be a bit of a departure for the series in that its visual novel portions have been replaced by cinematics. Zero Escape creator Kotaro Uchikoshi told our friends at USgamer that he was inspired by Telltale's The Walking Dead when he decided to alter the series from a visual novel to a more theatrical experience.

It's still going to be very narrative-heavy with various branching paths and even randomised outcomes. GameInformer noted one sequence where a character is forced into a Russian roulette scenario and the outcome may change upon reloading the game.
