New LA Noire update goes live

Physics tweaked, bugs fixed.

A new automatic title update for Rockstar's detective epic L.A. Noire has gone live today.

As detailed on the developer's site, it makes a number of fairly minor changes, including a fix for a bug that was preventing some users from advancing beyond rank 19.

Here's the full list of tweaks:

  • Implemented a handful of physics changes to prevent floating, falling and traveling outside the map
  • Improved crash handling
  • Fixed an issue where a clean installation interrupted by a Title Update would still show a "game data is corrupt and is being repaired" message (PS3 only)
  • Fixed an issue that prevented players from getting beyond Rank 19 in certain instances
  • Fixed an issue where case objectives might not appear in the notebook after replaying cases

L.A Noire landed on the desk of Eurogamer's Oli Welsh last month. A thorough investigation revealed a game worthy of a solid 8/10.

Can't say I've ever noticed any of this bugs, so nice if them to fix them up anyway.

Too late, my copy's gone on to a new owner now. I admit I do miss the little tyke a little...

Halfway through and planning to play through a case later this evening. :)

    Good job on the fixing.

Don't need this anymore. I traded this un-repayable game for the totally replayable Dungeon Siege 3.

No fixes for the shitty logic then?

Nothing about vanishing/frozen cutscene characters, limb-spazzing when characters are handcuffed, AI often unable to handle scenery when walking, running or driving? Oh well...

Could they please fix the freezing issues? I know not everyone's having them, but for me it's unplayable after half an hour. Rockstar needs to get it's act together, it's the only company whose games I've ever had hardware issues with. It's a PS3 ffs, they should be aware of the specs...

Could they fix it so it's not so insanely boring?

And I'd quite like the cut scene of arriving at any location by car taken out. It's pointless

How about a little tweak to the traffic AI so driving around is bearable, without AI cars making left and right turns right into your path like they didn't see you?
  • Ahskay #10 11 months ago

aww, no more roof climbing :(

How about turning your siren on?

    @Embra:

Your copy and/or console sound fucked.

This isn't the full fix list, as stated on the linked rockstar site.
I've personally witnessed bug where my partner tried to walk down a hill but his height remained constant. He ended up getting snagged on a piece of geometry. I had to drive off and activate a cutscene to get him back.

Ahe AI drivers also annoy me, the siren helps but when travelling at speed, the game seems to spawn cars pointing at me from side roads, and when they detect that I'm gonna hit them, they slam on the brakes right in front of me!

That's an insta-fail in Sony's cert process. So either this was a new bug or cert isn't being carried out properly on AAA titles, something that gamers have suspected for some time already
  • metalangel #15 11 months ago

@BinaryBob: For one thing, it doesn't help much. For another, I was trying to role play being a proper cop, and cops don't drive everywhere with their siren blaring. Doesn't matter, I finished this PoS last night.

    @jablonski

There might be an even easier fix for you. Just stop playing it.

It's a great game in small doses but not appreciated by everyone. I find the story and attention to detail fantastic myself.

I've been having issues with a bug L.A. Noire which prevents me from pulling my gun out and shooting it whenever I feel like it.
    Most annoying.
Never had such problems with Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption.
I wonder when this issue will be addressed.
  • Orikk #18 11 months ago

Not sure what it's fixed but I had an AI car sunk halfway into the tarmac last night!
  • StooMonster #19 11 months ago

I had the Yellow Taxi bug last night, in The White Shoe Slaying, its position was there on the map highlighted with a flag and I could go to the location, but there was never any taxi there and so I lost the 'Clues' points.

I am getting a hell of a lot of slowdown during 'busy' scenes since the update on Xbox- anyone else seen this?
