Vlambeer releases free top-down mech game Techno King

Destroy your city before your enemies can.

Super Crate Box and Serious Sam: The Random Encounter creator Vlambeer has released a new free top-down combat game entitled Techno King.

Set in Neo Tokyo, the city is under attack by enemy mechs. You must board your "Techno King" to protect it at any cost. And by protect it, I mean destroy it. Vlambeer's Rami Ismail explained this silly win condition to IndieGames.com, where he noted, "If you destroy everything, they can't destroy it." Of course this doesn't make much sense, but that didn't stop it from being the plot to Gears of War.

Rami explained that Techno King was a nod to the hilariously destruction-heavy Earth Defense Force series, where you end up demolishing most of the city you're assigned to defend. Techno King goes one step further and turns its buildings into destructible cover, so "the more you're winning, the less cover you have."

Techno King is a very simple game and it's unfortunate that the bullets are the same colour as your rather minuscule mech, but it's still good for a laugh. Grab it on PC or Mac here.
