Vanillaware's latest Dragon's Crown dated for August in North America

UPDATE: Heading to Europe this autumn.

UPDATE: Dragon's Crown is heading to Europe this autumn on both PS3 and Vita, courtesy of a publishing deal between NIS America and Atlus, the publishers have announced.

No specific release date has been set.

Original Story: Dragon's Crown - the latest 2D action game from Odin Sphere and Muramasa: The Demon Blade developer Vanillaware - will be heading to North American PS3s and Vitas on 6th August, publisher Atlus has announced.

No European release has been announced, as Atlus is a North America-only publisher, but the Vita and PS3 are both region-free so dedicated fans can still get around these hindrances.

The PS3 version of Dragon's Crown is priced at $49.99 and the Vita version at $39.99. It doesn't appear to be part of Sony's Cross-Buy program, so you'll have to purchase each version separately. As detailed on the US Playtation Blog, Dragon's Crown will operate Like Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate in that players will be able to transfer their save data from the console version to the handheld, but unfortunately players won't be able to play with others on a different platform.

Dragon's Crown will feature six character classes, gorgeous hand-drawn artwork and at least one bona fide crown, ostensibly belonging to a dragon. See it in action the trailer below.
