UK teen having seizure helped by US gaming pal across Atlantic

"We noticed police cars outside with flashing lights..."

A UK teenager who experienced a seizure while playing games online received medical attention thanks to an emergency call from across the Atlantic.

17-year-old Aidan Jackson from Widnes, near Liverpool, began to feel unwell while playing games online with a friend, BBC News reported.

That friend - 20-year-old Dia Lathora, who lives in Texas - heard Jackson having a seizure and immediately began to search the internet for a local emergency phone number.

Unable to simply call 999, Lathora eventually got in contact with Cheshire Police via their non-emergency number and explained the situation.

Jackson's parents - sat downstairs watching TV - first found out their son was unwell when police turned up on their doorstep shortly after.

"We were at home watching TV and Aidan was upstairs in his room. The next thing we noticed was two police cars outside with flashing lights," Jackson's mum Caroline told the BBC.

Jackson had previously suffered a seizure in May 2019, so his parents immediately realised what had happened.

"They said there was an unresponsive male at the address. We said we hadn't called anyone and they said a call had come from America. I immediately went to check on Aidan and found him extremely disorientated."

Jackson has now recovered - and is full of praise for Lathora's quick thinking in raising the alarm. "I thank her every day," he concluded.
