Treyarch supports Medal of Honor team
Taliban ruckus was “unfair”.
Call of Duty: Black Ops developer Treyarch has declared its support for EA's Medal of Honor team following controversy over its decision to let gamers play as the Taliban.
In an interview with MCV, Treyarch's studio head Mark Lamia said the flak that EA caught was "unfair".
"We cover the Cold War era and there are definitely some controversial topics in there. But I look at it as creating a piece of entertainment and we are strong advocates of creative freedom.
"Our story weaves itself around all kinds of controversial historical periods," he continued, "but there have been many books and movies that do that, so to single out games in that way seems unfair."
UK Defence Secretary Liam Fox called for Medal of Honor to be banned in August, saying, "I am disgusted and angry. It's hard to believe any citizen of our country would wish to buy such a thoroughly un-British game. I would urge retailers to show their support for our armed forces and ban this tasteless product."
Medal of Honor arrives on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on 15th October, with Call of Duty: Black Ops creeping out of the shadows on 9th November.
