Sony files for PS Vita trademark

More clues ahead of E3 reveal.

Hot on the heels of rumours last week that Sony is to rename its PSP successor as PlayStation Vita, it's emerged that Sony has applied to trademark PlayStation Vita and PS Vita in Europe.

As reported by VG247, the applications were filed last Friday with the EU's Trade Marks and Designs Registration Office and are currently listed as "under examination".

Developers last week confirmed to Eurogamer that Vita has been used internally as a codename for NGP for some time.

Sony is expected to formally announce the official name of NGP during its E3 press conference, which kicks off at 1am BST tomorrow.
