Shadow of War: Brûz Quests - Ring of Power, Damaged and Missing

How to tackle the sprawling Middle-earth adventure.

Brûz Quests the Ring of Power, Damaged, and Missing are three missions as part of the Brûz storyline in Middle-earth: Shadow of War.

These unlock one after another, and come after completing Traitor's Gate and The Fall quests earlier on in the story, once you've opened up Act 2.

If you are interested in completing other missions in the game, our Shadow of War guide and walkthrough can help.

Ring of Power

If you've played the first game you may spot some familiar faces during this set of Brûz quests! It teaches you the basics of building your Army, then using it to capture a fortress and subsequently defending it from invaders, and the first few missions serve as a tutorial of sorts.

These quests are compulsory up to and including The Best Defense, but the remainder are optional. We'd recommend completing them, though, partly for the valuable XP, and partly because the characters are involved are amongst the game's most memorable.

Prerequisite: Start Act 2
Reward: 7434 XP, 890 Mirian
Optional bonus: Wealth gem

Break Brûz: The tactics against Brûz are the same as with the Olog-hai - dodging his attacks and getting some slashes in from behind, then using Stun when prompted and climbing up to ride him around the arena whilst stabbing him. This will easily earn you the optional objective.

Dominate Brûz: Once he's broken, use Dominate to bend him to your will and recruit him into your Army.

Note: Your next goal to progress the Brûz questline is to capture the fortress in Núrnen, which will require recruiting some Captains to your army using your newly-acquired skills - take a look at our guide to Shadow of War Sieges for more on that.

You can start work on this straight away, but you'll need to complete some other Núrnen-based missions first before it unlocks, and we'd recommend you also do some of the other activities available - clearing Haedir Towers, tackling some of the Carnán quests, and so on. The stronger you are the stronger the Orcs under your command will be.

It's not clear what exactly unlocks the siege of Núrnen (note that the fortress quest is called The Etten), but for us it unlocked after completing one of each mission for Carnán and Eltariel.

After completing the Siege of Núrnen, there are two more tutorial-like missions you can quickly knock out with Brûz, in the form of Conquest and The Fight Pits:

Conquest

Prerequisite: Complete Ring of Power and capture the fortress in Núrnen (see our guide to Shadow of War Fortress Sieges for some more information).
Reward: None.

No objectives here, just some information about Online Conquests.

The Fight Pits

Prerequisite: Complete Conquest.
Reward: None.

No objectives again, just some information about Fight Pits.

The Best Defense follows this in the Brûz questline, but requires you to complete a few other quests first, up to and including the Eltariel quest The Tower of Sorcery and Carnán's Bane.

The Best Defense

Prerequisite: Complete The Tower of Sorcery and Carnán's Bane.
Reward: 13930 XP, 1000 Mirian

See our guide to Shadow of War Sieges for more information here, as this involves a siege!

Damaged

Prerequisite: Complete The Best Defense.
Reward: 18260 XP, 1050 Mirian

Defeat the Guards / Rescue all Followers: Stealthily take out the archers first as you're going to face a protracted battle against a random Captain and being shot from above would just complicate matters. Once the Captain is down eliminate any other opposition still lurking around, then release your comrades.

It's worth noting that one of the followers you rescue here will be your imported Follower from Shadow of Mordor, if you played it on the same platform as you're playing Shadow of War. More on that in our guide to the Nemesis Forge and how to import your Nemesis and Follower.

Defeat Brûz / Defeat Brûz's Army: You've fought Brûz before so similar tactics should work here, and when you're on his back doing the stabbing don't forget to use him to your advantage and take out a few of his troops.

His Army contains a couple of Captains, so if possible Dominate them and get them to stay and fight for you so you can concentrate on the big guy. Brûz will flee the fight before it's over, so mop up any remaining enemies once he's gone.

Our Shadow of War guide and walkthrough gives you an overview of everything you need, but if you need something in particular, we have pages on Shadow of War Fortress Sieges, how to earn Mirian in Shadow of War, a guide for how to import your Nemesis and Follower to Shadow of War, collectibles guides like how to get all Shadow of War Legendary Armour and Weapons sets, a list of Lost Artifacts and Web of Fate locations, and Ithildin Door poem solutions and Shadows of the Past, along with how to grind XP in Shadow of War to power through the tricky Shadow Wars endgame and get the true ending. Finally, there's Shadow of War's army building explained and the best skills and how to earn Skill Points.

Missing

Prerequisite: Complete Damaged.
Reward: 15950 XP, 1030 Mirian

Reach the Meeting Point.

Defeat the Ambushers: This is a fairly straightforward skirmish, but a few of the ambushers are mounted on Caragors so concentrate on taking the mounts out of commission first.
