PSP and DS nearly tied in Japan
Wii Fit, Pro Evo doing well.
The latest figures from Media Create have revealed the DS was the best-selling hardware platform in Japan last week - but only just.
The total for Nintendo's handheld came to 79,370 units, while Sony sold 77,933 PSP units during the same period.
The Wii is still winning in the race of the home consoles with just over 74,500 units sold. The PS3's in second and outdoing PS2 by three-to-one with 34,363 and 11,364 units sold respectively.
Poor old Microsoft. No one in Japan wants the funny machine with the green lights and no blue neon whatsoever. Well, 4296 people did last week actually, but probably by mistake.
The best-selling game was Wii fit, with more than 1.28 million now served. In second place was the PSP version of World Soccer Winning Eleven 2008, known of course by the much more boring name Pro Evo in Europe. In third was PS2-exclusive Lucky Star: Misasagi Sakura Gakuen Sakura Fuji Festival. No idea.
Wii Sports and Mario & Sonic at the Wii Sports were in fourth and fifth place, followed by Mario Party DS WHY in sixth. At number seven it was Monster Hunter Portable 2nd for PSP, with Doraemon Baseball DS at eight. And finally, Yggdra Union (PSP) just pipped Professor Layton and Pandora's Box (DS) to ninth place.
