PS3 update 3.70 benefits Plus subs

Automatic Updates, cloud saving.

Sony has released a PlayStation 3 update designed to benefit PlayStation Plus subscribers.

Firmware update v3.70 streamlines the Automatic Download feature for Plus subscribers. It is now called Automatic Update.

A new auto upload function for online save data back-up is also added, designed to make it easier to back-up save data. You can select the game you want to automatically upload saved data under the Game section of the XMB.

Trophies will sync automatically at the timing of Auto Download.

Additionally, a new recommendation function is added designed to help you share your recommendations for PlayStation Store items with your PSN friends. You can now send messages with a store link from the product pages with the Store.

As a result of these changes, the iPlayer, itvPlayer and 4OD applications have been moved to a new XMB category called TV/Video Services. You can access your downloads from the My Channels section of this.

And finally, 3D support is now available when accessing Java-based special features on Blu-ray, lossless audio us supported while playing Blu-ray 3D movies, and 3D digital photos in MPO format can now be viewed in 3D on the XMB in the Photo Gallery app.

A "minor" PSP system software update (v. 6.60) launches soon.
