PS2 for 50 quid at Asda

In store now, quick!

Our local Asda store has just confirmed to us that it's handing over PlayStation 2 consoles for just fifty-smackers, right now, as we speak.

"Oh, you'd better hurry," said Sharon from Asda. "They're going quickly."

She also told Eurogamer that the store had just 12 left, which supports Internet activity suggesting the slimline console is selling like hot-cakes across the country. Games are also rumoured to be selling for under six pounds, though this is unconfirmed digital speculation.

Asda's press office was unavailable for comment at the time of writing, so we've no idea whether it will be offering further promotions on PS2, or perhaps Xbox and GameCube.

It seems Sony's last generation console is going through something of a swansong in its old age, and with games like Okami, ICO, God of War and Final Fantasy XII it's easy to see why.

So, we suggest that if you have this paltry amount of money you go and jolly-well buy one.
