Over 80% of PS3s connected to internet

Sony boasts over 69 million PSN accounts.

More than 80 per cent of PlayStation 3 consoles are connected to the internet, Sony has announced.

While on stage at Sony's PSP2 reveal press conference this morning, PlayStation boss boss Kaz Hirai said Sony had exceeded over 69 million PlayStation Network accounts as of 25th January.

That 69 million figure represents PSN accounts registered across all networked Sony products (such as televisions), and not just on PS3 and PSP.

"PS3 has won its place as the centre of the living room," Hirai declared.

Earlier this month Sony overlord Sir Howard Stringer said there were 60 million PSN accounts.

The PSN has seen over 1.4 billion downloads.
