A Nintendo of America representative recently shot down rumours that the Nintendo Wii may be getting a hard drive to facilitate upcoming WiiWare titles, GamesIndustry.biz reports.

"The way that we look at it is, we really don't want people storing every single game they buy on their drive," PR manager Eric Walter told Play.

"When you buy a game, it's yours forever, so you can delete it, and go back and get it at any time you want. In a way, we liken it to putting music on your iPod; you listen to it for a while, and then you get tired of it, and you pull it off, and you put some new stuff on."

Gamers who have taken the time to transfer data between the Wii's 512MB internal flash memory and an SD card know that it takes a significant amount of effort.

Depending upon the size of WiiWare games, Wii owners might have to clear a significant amount of space on the flash memory to download the titles. Walter did not seem to think this would be a problem, however.

"A lot of the games for WiiWare that have been submitted so far are smaller in size, so they’re not gonna take up a ton of your drive," he told Gamasutra.
