Blizzard Entertainment has announced plans to hold the first ever Blizzard Convention in the US this October.

BlizzCon is billed as "a celebration of our Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo franchises and the players who have helped make them so popular around the world."

Visitors will be able to take part in question and answer sessions with the development teams behind World of Warcraft and StarCraft: Ghost, try out some of the studio's top titles, and watch the world's best Warcraft III and StarCraft gamers compete in the BlizzCon Invitational Tournament.

The event will take place on October 28-29 in Orange County, California - there's no word yet on ticket prices, but we'll keep you posted.
