S.T.A.L.K.E.R. out next year

On track for spring release.

THQ has confirmed to Eurogamer that much delayed PC first-person shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is now on track for release early next year.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is set in the year 2012 and sees you playing as a mercenary who's been tasked with entering the Chernobyl exclusion zone. Which, wouldn't you know it, is populated by all manner of scary mutants who are out for blood.

The game has been in development for more than three years now, and that release date just keeps getting pushed back. Last we heard it was due out in April - so much for that.

Apparently the game will indeed hit the shelves in quarter one, 2007, though, and not as suspected the year in which it is set.
