Blitzkrieg: Burning Horizon in April

Plus, the first screenshots of 3D Blitzkrieg 2.

CDV has announced that Blitzkrieg: Burning Horizon - the previously announced standalone expansion for the publisher's World War II themed RTS title - will be released during April.

A second expansion pack is also due in the second half of 2004 and will consider contributions from the game's community of players, who were given the chance by CDV recently to register their ideas for a further pack.

Perhaps more interesting than either item however are the first screenshots of Blitzkrieg 2, which is scheduled for release during the first half of 2005. Anybody who has seen the original Blitzkrieg will appreciate the transition to a fully 3D engine, and it's actually remarkable just how detailed the game world is in these shots, which depict similar environments to those seen in the 2D original.
