UK Charts: Lara's on top again

Tomb Raider brand proves its worth as near universally panned game keeps on selling.

Lara Croft's first PS2 outing continues to sell well, racking up a second week at number one last week, while Sony's quirky EyeToy is also proving a hit with consumers and holds on at number two.

In fact, EyeToy had a sales boost in its second week, presumably thanks to strong word of mouth for the device [or people waving -Ed], and looks likely to become one of the strongest selling titles of the summer months.

Elsewhere, the chart is about as lively as you might expect given the weather at present in the UK (clear skies, light breezes and 30 degree heat, for those of you reading from overseas). In fact, there's only one new entry in the All Formats Top 40, with Sony's Formula One 2003 raising its head at number 31.

Capcom's Resident Evil: Dead Aim doesn't trouble the charts, and is nowhere to be found in the top 40, and the GameCube is also notably absent from the rankings - with its best selling title of the week, Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut, nowhere to be found in the top 40.

The top selling Xbox title of the week was Brute Force, down one place to number 18, while the Game Boy Advance has Donkey Kong Country at number 27 and Yu-Gi-Oh! Worldwide Edition at number 30.

The only real surprise in the charts, then, is the reappearance of James Bond 007: Nightfire in the top ten. Last Christmas' gadget 'em up appears at number ten after a meteoric rise back up the charts - all down to being part of a major retailer promotion at the moment.
