UT2004 goes gold

Do you want some? Yes please!

Bringing to mind Jay Wilbur's incongruous outburst of "DO YOU WANT SOOOME!", Atari has loudly announced that Unreal Tournament 2004 has gone gold, and is on track for release in Europe on March 19th.

"Get ready, PC gamers, because the biggest thing to ever hit multiplayer gaming is about to land on your hard drives!" Atari's Peter Wyse bellowed this afternoon. "The granddaddy of all multiplayer competition is back and better than ever! The extra time was worth the wait - Epic has produced the biggest, baddest, and most exciting multiplayer title ever to grace the PC." Bless.

UT2004 is of course the stonking multiplayer first-person shooter developed by Epic Games in conjunction with Digital Extremes, which builds on the success of last year's instalment and the original prototypical Unreal Tournament in new and increasingly bloodthirsty ways.

Apart from the triumphant return of fan favourite Assault, bizarrely cut from last year's UT2003, the 2004 vintage also introduces Onslaught mode, and reintroduces all the other bits you fondly remember - CTF, Bombing Run, Mutators, etc. You can read more about each aspect of the new game in Rob's recent preview. Expect a full review just as soon as we get our hands on it.
