Star Wars: Republic Commando demo

Rescue 431MB's worth of Wookiees in jungles.

LucasArts has released a chunky PC demo of its forthcoming PC and Xbox squad-based shooter Star Wars: Republic Commando, which you can download today from a variety of locations including 3D Gamers and GameSpot.

The 431MB demo (yikes!) consists of a single mission set on the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk where your team of crack Republic Commandos have been sent to liberate Wookiee leader Tarfful from the clutches of the Trandoshans.

Republic Commando has the look of a decent Star Wars game (Force-touch wood), so it'll be interesting to see what people make of this demo. Previously seen video footage paints a portrait of a shooter with simple, logical squad commands and vicious gatherings of Clone Troopers ready to be Blastered all over the walls and ceilings.

And we won't have long to wait to find out one way or another, with the full game due out on both platforms this 4th March according to European LucasArts distributor Activision and various retailers.
