Matrix cast to lend voice talent to Matrix Online

With a few notable omissions, naturally...

The Matrix Online will benefit from the voice talents and likenesses of many of the movie trilogy's original cast, Warner Bros. has confirmed, with the likes of Lawrence Fishburne (Morpheus), Monica Bellucci (Persephone), and Mary Alice (The Oracle) all signed up to play their respective parts in the game. No Keanu or Carrie-Ann, understandably. Presumably the publishers want to actually make a profit (and couldn't fashion a way to reincarnate them? - Ed).

In addition, gamers can look forward to Lambert Wilson (The Merovingian), Harold Perrineau Jr. (Link), Harry Lennix (Locke), Nona Gaye (Zee), Collin Chou (Seraph), and Tanveer Atwal (Sati). And as if that wasn't enough, Warners has also bagged the movie trilogy's composer Don Davis to score the music for the game, so it's looking as close to having all the main elements of the movie as possible, which is definitely a good sign for future game/film projects.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment senior vice president Jason Hall commented: "Since The Matrix Online is the legitimate continuation of The Matrix storyline, we felt that it was imperative to preserve character continuity between this game and the films as much as possible." Good to see - let's hope the game is actually any good.

The game is set to debut in the US on January 18, 2005, with European gamers likely to get the game shortly afterwards.
