Weekly Premium Content Roundup

Live, PSN, Virtual Console, Metaboli, Steam.

It's the Game Developers Conference next week. That's exciting because The Big Three will probably announce something or other. Sony presence is a little diminished this year, which is disappointing when you consider Phil Harrison took to the stage to unveil PlayStation Home and LittleBigPlanet in 2007. Developers will also do their fair share of the talking, with Molyneux, Levine and Meier all pipped to do some chin-wagging - Peter Molyneux dazzled us by revealing the dog in Fable 2 last year.

Tom and Ellie are jetting off to San Francisco to cover the event, and our fresh-faced editor has whipped up a summary of our GDC 2008 coverage plans so you feel less lost in the woods. But before we get there, we've got some premium downloadable content to waffle on about.

Fresh Xbox Original arrivals Ninja Gaiden: Black, Black (not an echo), and Sid Meier's Pirates! are probably worth a look. Pirates is the weakest of the bunch, but fun and enjoyable nonetheless. Otherwise those of you with PGR4 can bolster your garage with some new cars and bikes, and Overlord-lovers can embark on the Raising Hell single-player expansion and/or the difficulty-increasing Challenge Pack (also featuring seven new multiplayer maps).

On the Sony side of life is thoroughly recommended PSN game Riff: Everyday Shooter for a fiver, as well as some Classic Rock tracks for Guitar Hero III and another dose of WipEout Pulse content.

Guitar Hero III enthusiasts should look out for Aerosmith song "Dream On" this weekend on 360 and PS3 too: Activision is offering it up as part of an announcement for its upcoming Guitar Hero: Aerosmith game. Not sure if it will be free, sorry.

Elsewhere, the Virtual Console got a routine update with a couple of Megadrive morsels: Phantasy Star II and Eternal Champions.

Those of you keen on PC games (you should have a look at our recently-published reaction to Cliffy B claiming the PC market is in disarray) should feel a little enticed by Metaboli bolstering its Ultimate Collection subscription with World in Conflict, because it's good, or get a bit excited about Fahrenheit being added to the Essential Collection subscription, because it's also good.

And that's about it. Having a cracking weekend.
