Sony's PlayStation 3 exclusive arcade racer MotorStorm Apocalypse will launch spring 2011, games director Matt Southern revealed on the EU PlayStation Blog. A demo will release some time next year.

Developer Evolution Studios has promised gamers it'll continue to support the game after release, and develop concepts the team were unable to find the time to complete – including a special island track it hopes to give away for free.

PSN avatars, dynamic themes and pre-order and PlayStation Plus exclusives are all planned.

Southern also released a new trailer of track Skyline (below), which features a new vehicle: the superbike.

"We showed Skyline in stereoscopic 3D, and pretty much everyone agreed with me that it sets the benchmark for 3D gaming," Southern said.

Oli's came away from Eurogamer's MotorStorm: Apocalypse hands-on preview smiling: "It may look familiar, but MotorStorm: Apocalypse will be a racing game unlike any other: that much is certain."
