Molyneux battling Curiosity bugs, "overwhelmed" servers

"Praying to the gods" the cube stays online.

Fable creator Peter Molyneux has apologised to Curiosity users for the bugs and ongoing server issues that have cropped up since the social experiment app's launch.

Molyneux revealed that he and development studio were working through the night to try and ease the strain on the game's servers.

"I now understand what's going on, basically we and our servers are overwhelmed by the number of people trying out the experiment," Molyneux explained on Twitter.

"After a little cry I am immensely grateful to everyone for their patience. The six of us are working overnight to keep the service going."

Users have reported long loading times and disappearing coin totals. Over-stressed servers have also caused a lag in users seeing other people's progress.

Molyneux's team is struggling to deploy fixes while the cube remains active. A full update is also in the works.

"Everyone please remember something as concurrent as this has never been attempted before, and we're just a tiny company," Molyneux continued. "What makes this so scary [is] we want to keep the cube active [and] we are having to make changes on the server live. Praying to the gods."

"What we've learned so far is amazing and we'll share all of this but first we must fix the problems. SO SO SO sorry but please be patient."

The first layer of 100 million blocks is almost entirely gone - just 3.3 million cubelets remain. More than 158,000 users have downloaded the app in its first 24 hours.
