Mirror's Edge writer Rhianna Pratchett isn't working on Mirror's Edge 2

But is she working on the next Tomb Raider?

Mirror's Edge writer Rhianna Pratchett has confirmed she is not working on the sequel, Mirror's Edge 2.

In a series of tweets Pratchett, who most recently wrote the story for Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider reboot, said Mirror's Edge developer DICE hadn't asked for her services.

"It's really lovely that people care enough to ask whether I'm involved with Mirror's Edge 2, but I'm not & wasn't asked," she said.

Pratchett has on numerous occasions discussed the issues she faced writing the story to DICE's 2008 first-person Parkour game. She again addressed this on Twitter overnight, saying: "I came in late to ME1, much of it was already designed, my script was hacked up, I wasn't happy & said so (diplomatically.)"

The Mirror's Edge script was "hacked up" at the 11th hour, Pratchett said, because of a decision to remove all of Faith's level dialogue.

Then: "Story didn't seem well regarded well (by reviewers) either. Despite the nature of the project, DICE may blame me for that.

"Although I think we produced something cool, it was a difficult project for all and I no longer have any contacts there."

Continuing her initial tweet, Pratchett added: "Let's face it ME1's story didn't review that great (for many reasons). So I consider myself a casualty of that development process.

"By all accounts it's a new team on it, so go with God, I say. Create cool stuff. We always need more of that."

EA announced Mirror's Edge 2 at E3 in June 2013. Then, it was in the early stages of development and was set for launch on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, powered by the Frostbite engine. It's described as a reboot for the franchise that will tell an "all-new origin story" for heroine Faith.

So, if Pratchett isn't working on Mirror's Edge 2, what is she working on?

She may be writing the next Tomb Raider game, confirmed to be in development at Crystal Dynamics. "Can't say, sorry," was Pratchett's response when asked about the possibility on Twitter.
