Mercenaries 2 lead designer Scott Warner has hinted at the possibility of a Mercenaries game on handhelds.
He was talking in an exclusive interview with Eurogamer and revealed that once his Pandemic Studios team had finished work on Mercenaries 2, anything was possible.
"At the moment we're only concentrating on the versions of the game we've announced, but I'd love for us to work on a handheld version of Mercs!" Scott Warner told Eurogamer. "Anything's possible!"
Currently, Mercenaries 2: World in Flames is being built from the ground-up for next-generation consoles, PC, and, er, PS2.
It boasts "jump-in" online cooperative gameplay and fully destructible environments. For instance, you can clear large areas of foliage in jungles by laying down some hefty fire power. Just like Arnie did in Predator after he'd lifted up the back of a truck and rolled it into a hostile camp.
The action will be set in Venezuela this time around and has been reconstructed to be very close to the real-thing, prompting stern frowns from the government of the region.
Mercenaries 2 is expected to be released this winter, and you can catch our full interview with Scott Warner tomorrow morning on Eurogamer.
