Lovely-looking Knights and Bikes channels The Goonies and Earthbound

Hey, you guys!

A new game called Knights and Bikes, from two developers schooled on the likes of Tearaway, LittleBigPlanet and Ratchet & Clank, is now on Kickstarter - and it looks lovely.

Knights and Bikes is inspired by cult classic '80s movie The Goonies, and '90s Japanese role-playing games Earthbound and The Secret of Mana.

It's the work of Rex Crowle, who was the creative lead on both Tearaway and Tearaway: Unfolded at Media Molecule, and Moo Yu, who was the lead gameplay programmer on Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction. The pair, collectively known as Foam Sword, today launched a £100,000 Kickstarter with a pitch video, below, that shows off the game's lovely-looking art style.

You play Nessa and Demelza, who attempt to save the adults of an island off the coast of Cornwall from financial ruin. Along the way they cycle around and fight undead knights. You can play single-player or co-op with a friend.

"This is a very ambitious project, especially for a team of two, but we definitely feel like we are up to the challenge," the pair wrote on Kickstarter.

If all goes to plan, Knights and Bikes will be released for PC, Mac and Linux in April 2017. One to watch.
