Kim to leave Microsoft after 19 years

That's a Shane.

Shane Kim, the corporate vice president of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business, is to retire after 19 years with the company.

A spokesperson said Kim wants to spend more time with his friends and family. And presumably less time with the likes of Phil Spencer, who was general manager of Microsoft Game Studios and has just been promoted to vice president.

Meanwhile, financial operations boss Dennis Durkin has been promoted to chief operating officer for the Interactive Entertainment Business. Well done, Dennis Durkin.

Our favourite Shane Kim moment comes from May 2008:

Eurogamer: Eurogamer: Do you have a sign above your desk that says, 'Make things more badass'?

Shane Kim: No. I prefer to communicate that orally.
