There's a new Kick Off game in development.
Dino Dini's Kick Off Revival is a reboot of the veteran football series, and is due out on PlayStation 4 and Vita in 2016.
As the title suggests, Kick Off creator Dino Dini is on board, and is working with The Digital Lounge (who published the console versions of Another World 20th Anniversary Edition).
The first Kick Off game came out in 1989 for the Amiga and the Atari ST. It spawned several sequels, as well as Player Manager, but we haven't seen a new Kick Off game since 2002.
"I want to bring back reward for effort and dedication," Dini said.
"In Kick Off, scoring was hard, but when you succeeded nothing compared with that feeling of achievement. The moment when you score should be all yours, not as a bystander, but as a participant. You and the ball against your opponent and the goal keeper. It is up to you whether you fail or succeed. That is what football is all about, and that is what I wish to revive again."
Here's some more from Dini about how the new Kick Off will play from the PlayStation Blog:
There's no gameplay footage yet, but we do have the video, below, in which Dini talks about Kick Off. All we need now is a new Sensible Soccer and the time warp will be complete.
