It looks like Call of Duty: Warzone is getting a new Rebirth Island location

Raising the bars.

Call of Duty: Warzone looks set to expand soon with the addition of Rebirth Island.

As image doing the rounds within the Call of Duty datamining community shows the logos for Warzone and Rebirth Island on top of an aerial shot of the island itself.

In its roadmap for Warzone published last month, Activision teased a "classified Warzone experience" set to launch when Season 1 of Call of Duty: Black Ops - and its integration with Warzone - begins on 10th December.

The image Activision used to tease this experience included obscured text that included the phrase: "...eniya Island". This looks like the phrase "Vozrozhdeniya Island" cut off. Vozrozhdeniya Island, which is "Rebirth Island" in Russian, was an island in the Aral Sea on which the former Soviet Union built a biological weapons test site in the 1950s. Vozrozhdeniya Island appeared in the original 2010 Call of Duty: Black Ops as the setting for the campaign mission, Rebirth.

So, how does it relate to Warzone, exactly? The leaked image looks a lot like Alcatraz, the second and final map for Treyarch's battle royale Blackout. This map was set around the prison on Alcatraz Island and had a 40-player limit. It looks like Alcatraz has been updated to fit within the Warzone setting.

The question is how Rebirth Island will be integrated into Warzone. Rather than the battle royale getting a new map, it looks likely Rebirth Island is a new location in Warzone. Rebirth Island could also be made to play separately with a reduced player count in a limited time event.
